As a licensed speech-language pathologist certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and Certified Lactation Counselor by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP), Dr. Anna offers evaluations and treatment for infant and toddler oral motor and feeding difficulties and disorders.
Signs & Symptoms of Oral Motor
& Feeding Problems
Newborn Signs & Symptoms:

Gassiness, colic, reflux, digestive issues

Weak suck, poor latch, and/or popping on and off the breast or bottle nipple

Coughing or gagging during feeding

Noisy feeding (e.g. clicking, noisy breathing)

Dribbling during feeding

Noisy breathing / mouth breathing

Lip blisters

Ankyloglossia (tongue tie)

Maternal pain or discomfort when breastfeeding

Poor weight gain

Difficulty sleeping (due to hunger)
Infant / Toddler Signs & Symptoms:

Difficulty transitioning to solid foods and/or open cup/straw drinking

Excessive drooling

Coughing, gagging, or vomiting when eating

GI Issues including constipation, reflux, discomfort during or after eating

Restrictive diet or intake, picky eating

Oral aversion, disliking certain textures, new foods, toothbrush

On-going pacifier or thumb sucking habit
